The new Polish ambassador to Denmark, Antoni Fałkowski, is enthusiastic about the Museum Polish Barrack and the way in which volunteers protect the common Danish-Polish history, tell the stories of the Polish “sugar beet girls” and seasonal workers, who came to Lolland-Falster in large numbers in the years 1893 until 1929, and not least the new sculpture of two “sugar beet girls” made by the sculptor Steen B. Langvad, Orø and now erected in front of the museum on Lolland.
He expressed this during a special visit to the museum on 7 June, where he met with representatives of the museum shortly after he was accredited as ambassador in Denmark by Queen Margrethe II, and he reiterated his enthusiasm for the museum's representatives at an official meeting on 10 June at the Polish Embassy in Hellerup.
During the visit to Lolland, Antoni Fałkowski also had the opportunity at a lunch meeting to greet the Mayor of Lolland Municipality, Holger Schou Rasmussen and Deputy Mayor Henrik Jacobsen.
- We are pleased that the museum makes an impression on the Polish representatives in Denmark, and we look forward to continuing the good cooperation with the embassy and consulate, says the chairman of the museum, editor Torsten Elsvor.
